It was reported over the last few days that the blogging platform Tumblr passed WordPress as the number one site for Bloggers.

Why?

WordPress is a more dynamic system. Many web design shops are now using it to build client websites. The platforms content management system (CMS) makes it easy for website owners to make adjustments, updates and changes. This is convenient for both the client and the design firm.

When Tumblr was launch in 2007 it was touted as a half way point between Twitter and the traditional blog. It was an interesting concept but not the huge hit that it is today.

Over the years Tumblr released strong upgrades. As smart phones improved Tumblr became a great option for people to share photographs and short blog posts. Not only is it a blogging platform, but Tumblr also has a vibrant social media community.

Tumblr has always been on the cutting edge. It was one of the first to create a bookmarket to share websites and information from your browser toolbar directly to your blog.

No time to write? Call the websites toll free number and record an audio post. Tumblr makes it easy to schedule posts, create community blogs with their submission feature, instant message posts from your phone or keep your Tumblr updated with social media feeds.

Like WordPress you can host your tumblr blog under your own domain.

Both platforms offer advantages. Although many top bloggers, such as Gary Vaynerchuk, use Tumblr – WordPress still offers more options for the serious blogger. For the average person participating in social media Tumblr is always a strong recommendation.
